Creating psycho-social safe workplaces:

Australian and State/Territory workplace legislation now requires employers to identify psychosocial hazards in their workplace and create hazard prevention strategies in response to these identified risks. Peta can assist your workplace by delivering training to reduce psychosocial hazards and to also work with you to develop risk reduction and prevention strategies.

Peta has created the following workshops to address common psychosocial hazards in workplaces. She can also work with you to develop tailored training unique to your workplace’s needs. Peta can also work with you in person to identify and assess psychosocial hazards at your workplace to collaborate on the development on specific training and strategies.

  • Creating trauma informed and responsive workplaces

During this training, participants will develop understanding and skills of how individuals can be more trauma informed and responsive to the needs and experiences of others in both the workplace and community. Managing, responding and intervening in trauma is a psycho-social hazard that requires organisations to be more skilled up in order to comply with the new legislation.

  • Talking the Talk

In this training, participants will learn how to communicate safely and accurately about mental illness, suicide, sexual violence, gender equality and diversity, body image and domestic and family violence. Resources and strategies will be discussed and provided to attendees.

  • Me Time

In this course, your staff will learn about the importance of self care and will undertake interactive activities to develop their own self care plan.

  • Me - You - Us

A full day course in which members of your team learn about self care, establishing team values, improving communication and coming together to create a workplace wellbeing charter.

  • Leading with Compassion and Empathy

A course teaching leaders how to be authentic, approachable, promote inclusion and to establish non hierarchal working relationships at their workplaces. Leaders will also learn about establishing compassionate boundaries and modes of communication and worker evaluation techniques.

  • Handling Hard Conversations

Course participants will learn how to establish rapport with others, respond to an individual’s needs and reset yourself after difficult conversations. This course has been particularly useful for staff to develop increased customer service skills in high pressure environments and to promote mentally safe processes during these interactions.
